Well, I still haven’t publicly renounced my “faith” yet. It feels really strange to be living like this. I go to church, sing the songs and bow my head in prayer.
Here’s the reason. During the snowstorm, I worked long, long hours of overtime, and we received huge bonuses on top of it all. After we had earned a certain amount, it was clear to my boss that I could just quit and fly through school on a part-time job, so he gave me the opportunity to change my hours to the evening. This way, they keep me, and I keep my health and dental insurance, as well as $10+/hr, which would be hard to find elsewhere. So I’m going to school, as soon as I can.
So when I told my parents, they said they would let me stay at home rent-free while I was going to school, as opposed to the usual $200-a-month I pay them. That’s a lot of money. However, they really want me to go to church while staying with them. Here lies the issue.
I guess I can look at it as earning $50 each time I go to church…or even $100 each time, considering that I’d have to move out, and that would likely be the cost of rent if I moved out.
Oh well. I need to focus on school right now, and do a little preparation for that deconversion. I have a feeling this is going to be a rough ride.
